Fr Daniel Emeka Nwamarabia C.S.Sp

Daniel Nwamarabia was born in Orsu Ihiteukwa, Orsu Local Government Area, Imo State, Nigeria on November 10, 1948.He was the fourth child of his parents Roseline and Aloysius Nwamarabia, following an older sister - Regina, and brothers Declan and Gregory. He would in time become an older brother to Dominic and Lambert. As a child Daniel attended St Anthony's primary school where he maintained a keen interest and excelled in sport, particularly football. He went on to attend the Community Grammar School Awo Idemili. His education was interrupted by the Nigerian Civil War, where he served for his then nation Biafra. Following the war, Daniel continued his education and further developed his skills on the football pitch becoming a certified referee in the process.

Fr Dan's Vocation

From an early age Daniel indicated a desire to enter the priesthood. His sister, Regina, thinking he might be under the influence of a close friend with a similar vocation insisted he at least complete his secondary school education before attending a seminary. Determined to follow his dream and fulfill his vocation Daniel bid his time, studying for his exams after a move to Lagos where he set up in trade. He eventually completed his secondary studies and in 1978 was admitted to the Juniorate at Ihiala. He would also attend the Holy Ghost Novitiate Awo-Omamma, the Holy Ghost School of Philosophy Nsukka and Bigard Memorial Seminary Enugu. He was ordained a priest on March 24, 1990.
